Our Story

ALLUMEZ11 is an evolving collection of objects for everyday life. We begin with colour, texture and form, and with the places that stay with us. These interests guide the pieces we bring together as the collection grows.

A sense of place

Landscape is one starting point. A reflection on water, the shade beneath a tree or the colour of a distant horizon can suggest a palette, a surface or a shape.

Our current landscape series draw on Perito Moreno, Oshino Hakkai and De Djawatan. These names describe their artistic references. Future collections may follow other places, materials and ideas.

Our current ceramic collection

We work with a partner ceramic studio in Jingde, China. For these pieces, the firing approach draws on methods from Japanese craftspeople, interpreted through non-traditional mineral glaze formulations.

Shino practice informs the way these ceramic pieces are fired and the character of their surfaces. The mineral glazes differ from traditional Shino formulations.

Details to live with

We are drawn to objects that reward a closer look: how a colour changes in the light, how a surface feels, how a form sits in a room. Our collection begins with ceramics and leaves room for other materials and kinds of objects.
